WALT:  Write a descriptive piece of writing that engages the Reader

School holidays and Lockdown number 2

Morena Koutou,

  1. Today and tomorrow you are asked to express yourself by writing your true feelings, about the exciting and not so exciting times during the school holiday break.  You are also asked to write a paragraph about  your thoughts on Covid-19.  Do you agree or disagree with the people protesting for their freedom to choose to vaccinate as opposed to this government's compulsory stance that all teachers and health workers must be vaccinated prior to 1 January 2022, if they want to continue to work in their chosen professions.   Thank you.

The holidays

During the school holidays the coolest day was when Mum, Dad, Toby, Jake and I went to Rangiputa.  Mum told Jake, Toby and I to “get ready for the beach!”  When we were ready dad shouted “Let’s take the Safari to the beach!”  We were at the end of Rangiputa and there was a wooden post stopping us from going the way and to make people go the right way but dad didn’t listen.  The first thing I did when we stopped was get dressed into my togs. I saw Toby, Dad and Jake run off so I sprinted to catch up with them,  on my way I spotted a wooden boat and three mallet.  At the end of the track Dad, Jake and Toby had already turned around. I just walked back, I went to my Mum and she suggested “have a swim?”   I put my toes in the water and it was ice cold Then Jake started splashing me so I jumped in I found a warm spot that I stayed in shrimps started going on me and then I caught one then I swam over to a deep part and there were some baby mallet that I tried to catch one but they kept on swimming away.  This lady came to give Dad a crawling  so we had to go. I jumped out of the water to get changed and to go.

Puheke

I thought that we were going but when we went to Puheke we were the only people on the beach.  I decided to have a quick walk because it was nearly dinner time.  I saw some bluebottle jellyfish. I didn't know what it was at first so I brang it back to the truck mum and dad mumbled to “put it back in the water and well you're there wash our hands for dinner!”   For dinner we had sausage with hash brown on bread Mum Called “we're going soon so after your sandwich you have to pack up your things.”  when we did all those things we hopped in the truck  when we arrived Dad ardent “get ready for bed!”

My choice of COVID-19

I agree that people should have a Pro-choice about getting their covid vaccine, because everyone's choice matters.  I also agree that the government shouldn't make it so if teachers, Nurses, dentists, Doctors and people like that are to be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022 because I think they should at least have one vaccine by then.  I think that they should say “it would be better if you have your second vaccine by then.”  So people don’t get fired.

Narrative

 Monday 27 September 2021

WALT: Add descriptive features to my Narrative

It was a humid sunny day. There was a time traveller called Zack.  Zack had blonde hair and blue eyes, He always had circle glasses and hated fitness. Well, his kitten, named Bow, Was more fit and hated cat food so he preferred Zack's food, Bow was brown with white patches on him.  Zack had finally worked out where he wanted to travel. To a wonderful Tropical island, Zack knew there were Cheetahs that might have wanted to bite his face off but he would take the risk only because his three sisters Hannah,  Erin and Ellery had gone to a tropical island.   Zack was quickly going in the time traveller thing when Bow leaped in there without him knowing, the cat was meowing because he was starving. Zack had realised Bow was there, But it was too late Bow had to be on this adventure.  When he arrived he straight away set up camp for the night Zack had packed: Delicious pancakes for breakfast, Steak for Dinner, pillow and a blanket.  It had become sunset and Zack had had dinner so he decided to have a rest and have an adventure in the morning.   Bow had woken up and he was starving so he woke up Zack.  Both Bow and Zack had breakfast and were all ready for their walk.  Hours past Bow had spotted an enormous CHEETAH that looked very hungry.

Bow started meowing and meowing but Zack angrily shouted “Bow you just had breakfast. I wish I never let you come here and go to the time machine!!!”  Bow pretended to go back but he was worried about Zack so Bow carried on walking.  Later Zack decided to head back and when he turned around he saw the CHEETAH, The cheetah had not seen him so he quickly played dead with hope that the cheetah thought he was dead.  Soon the cheetah had left and Zack rowed away to  the campsite.  When Zack returned he saw Bow happily licking himself  Zack was raving when he saw Bow.  All night Zack was terrified knowing that the Cheetah was on the island.  Early in the morning Zack told bow “we're going to go soon.”  But the time machine was making a weird noise.  Zack tried to fix it but it was no hope they now had two problems: The Cheetah, The time machine was broken and they had no food.  All day Zack was working on the machine well Bow was catching food.   After two hours of working on the time machine Zack had fixed it he yelled “we're going home!!!”  Bow ran to Zack with excitement.

They both quickly hopped in the time machine and went home.  Now they think of where they go.

Haka

 Haka

There was a brave man named Te Rauparaha, He was a chief (Te Rauparaha had a Tohunga that people wanted) The people became his enemies.  Te Rauparaha journeyed to find fighters to help him fight in the battles.  He stopped at lake Rotoaira.

Their chief- Te Wharerangi told him ‘They're coming to hide in the potato pit.”  So he stumbled over to the potato pit and climbed down.  At the top there was a woman called Te Rangikoaea.  The potato pit was pitch black, Te Rauparaha heard voices and footsteps.  He whispered to himself “ Will I die, will I live? Will I ever see the sun again”  The voices and footsteps faded away as Te Rauparaha emerged from the potato pit. The sun was shining.

He thought to himself “I live and the sun came shine on me again.

He returned home and told his tribe the story, Then they soon made a haka.  For centuries they taught more and more people that passed on to us
