Tsunami Warning Friday 05/03/21
On Friday 05/03/21 we got a Tsunami Warning. First we grabbed our bags and went to the Whare. Second, we started walking to mount Ngatu. I saw
students climbing over the gate and cars passing by. I was worried about my cat Mittens. I could see Mrs Davan carrying people up the mountain. Thirdly, we went up the mountain to a high spot, and I kept on walking into spiky gorse. I just couldn’t wait to get up the mountain and have morning tea.
When we got to the spot we had some water and morning tea and I put on my hat and talked to Alani. I could see 90 Mile Beach, Lake Ngatu, town, Ahipara and Lake Rotokawa. That made me scared because we were near water. Next the teachers decided to move onto a higher spot. When we got there me, Kaydee, Lucy, Mrs Jujnovich and Alani played eye spy. Then lots of people played Charades. I heard lots of students talking and playing. Also I played with the gorse. Sir came with the gazebo and the BBQ, so we moved to a smoother spot.
When moved to the smover spot Yvette put a blanket down so me and Alani could sit on it. Then the teachers made a sausage sizzle. I kept on seeing rabbits. When me and Alani had eaten our sausage sizzle we had a big talk and after a while a big black cricket went into my pants. Me and Alani had some peaches. Then a little kid came and sat by us. We did waiata practise, and then the teachers said we could talk.
After that, we went down the hill and crossed the road to Yvettes farm. I could hear loud cars passing and I could see white flowers. Then we arrived at school to get ready for home. I felt happy that there was no Tsunami but I was scared that one was coming. My favourite part was the spot and we could see all the places.
Then we went to the bus and pick-up lines. We were there for a little bit and my mum turned up. Then she went and talked to Mrs Stevenson for about 20 mins and I talked to Jake and Toby.
